Cold process soap, hot process soap, liquid soap, and detergents are the most popular homemade soaps. Cold process soap is the most popular method and is made with no added heat which results in a solid color with a more creamy texture. Hot process soap is made with added heat which will speed up the soap curing process and result in a translucent/clear hue and a harder soap. Liquid soaps such as hand soap are made with heat and usually contain Lye and other harmful ingredients. Detergents such as homemade laundry detergent are made with organic, natural ingredients eliminating harmful chemicals found in common laundry detergents.
