Benefits of Ingredients

Baking soda has a natural tendency to chemically break-up the grease stuck to the inside of your oven. Vinegar, on the other hand, acts as a cleaning agent for the metal. Some of the ovens come with a built-in auto-cleaning option that turns the heat up to burn everything inside charcoal black. But scrapping off that burnt dirt will take up a lot of energy and leave you exhausted. Also, the smoke rising from the oven turns on the smoke detectors, which can be a problem. Contrary to that, this DIY oven cleaner will help you work in a clean and fresh environment and scrub off every last crumb from your oven in no time.

Take a mixing bowl and put a cup of baking soda in it. Now pour a quarter cup of water to the baking soda and mix the two with a wooden spoon. Adjust the quantity of the water and continue to mix the ingredients properly until a smooth paste is formed which can be easily applied to the inside of your oven. Now take a separate spray bottle and pour a cup of vinegar in it.

Finishing Up

Apply the baking soda mixture on the inside of the oven and let it stay for 12 hours and then use a damp dishtowel to wipe it clean. You can also use a wooden spatula to scrape off the dirt. When you have removed the grease, spray white vinegar on the entire surface and clean it with a damp towel again. You can also spray more than once if all the grease doesn’t come off in one go. This mixture doesn’t spoil very quickly so you can store a jar of this mixture in your fridge for days and use it multiple times over the weeks. Cleaning your oven once a week with this paste will be enough to prevent grease from layering up inside your oven.
