Homemade Exfoliator

Homemade Exfoliator

Exfoliating is necessary to remove the uppermost layer of dead skin cells and give a natural glow to your skin. Market-based face wash and scrubs are often used as exfoliators in every home, but the harsh chemicals like salicylic acid, citric acid or malic acid extract the natural oils from your skin and leave them dry. To rejuvenate your skin cells with exfoliation, going ancient is the best way to achieve healthy skin, without subjecting it to harmful chemicals. From ancient Egypt, the process of exfoliating began and since then, it has been a crucial step of our skincare routines. In those days, wine along with tartaric acid was used as an exfoliator, and even today most of the facials at spas and beauty clinics include this process of exfoliating. You can easily make your own homemade exfoliator with ingredients like almond shells, sugar, and salt crystals.

Benefits of Ingredients

The lemon removes dirt and bacteria, the coconut oil keeps your skin soft while the sugar crystals work as a natural scrub. The salt helps in exfoliation of dry skin, and oats is considered as a great gentle exfoliator for face. Ground coffee can battle stretch marks along with rubbing off the dead skin cells gently.

Directions

Take a bowl and mix all the ingredients together with a table spoon. Add water if you think the mixture is dry, and store it in a jar. Apply to your hands and body twice every week, and enjoy soft skin all day long.

Finishing Up

Use lukewarm water to exfoliate your skin, as it will open up the pores and will allow easy penetration of essential oils. Exfoliating 2-3 times a week also helps reduce acne and cures oily skin. Rub the mixture slowly on your skin, with less pressure, to exfoliate without causing rashes. Unlike the market products, this homemade exfoliator does not contain any harmful chemicals and is best for people with sensitive skin.
